Safeguarding and child protection: the essentials 2026/27

Invite anyone who misses your September 2026 INSET to take this course, so you don't need to repeat your session again and again. Or, use it as a time-saving alternative to delivering our full INSET pack.

It covers all the critical information from part 1 of Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026, as well as the latest changes to the guidance. By the end, your staff will know:

• What safeguarding is, why it's important and what their responsibilities are
• Everything they need to about the 4 main types of abuse, and safeguarding issues to be alert to now
• How to spot the signs that a child might be suffering abuse, or is at risk of it
• What to do if they have any concerns about a child or a child tells them about abuse
• How to report any safeguarding concerns – about a child, an adult, or practice in your setting

Your staff must pass the final assessment, so you can track completion and be confident in your team’s knowledge. The assessment tests understanding of the critical information from KCSIE 2026 and makes sure staff know how to act in a real-life safeguarding situation.

Note: you should still talk through your procedures with staff, to make sure they understand them. We recommend using a combination of elearning and face-to-face training, as training in person will help you recognise and address any misconceptions.
