Pupil mental health: suicide and suicidal ideation
Understand the risk factors that contribute to suicidal ideation, the potential signs that a child or young person might be thinking about suicide, and how to offer support.

This course will give staff, including teachers, support staff and senior leaders, the practical knowledge to be able to recognise the signs of suicidal ideation in pupils and how to respond effectively.
In around 45 minutes this course covers:
- The factors that increase the risk a pupil may think about suicide
- How to spot the potential signs of suicidal thoughts in pupils
- How to report any concerns about suicide or suicidal ideation
- How to talk sensitively and confidently to a pupil about suicidal thoughts and offer support
Use this course to:
- Equip all staff to fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities around pupils' mental health
- Meet your responsibility under Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) to train your staff in pupil mental health
