This course will give staff, including teachers, support staff and senior leaders, practical knowledge about what depression is, how to spot the signs that a child might be suffering and how to offer support.

In around 30 to 35 minutes this course covers:

  • The main differences between low mood and depression
  • How to spot the potential signs of depression in a child
  • How to talk to a child about any concerns and how to help them find self-care strategies
  • How to effectively report any concerns

Use this course to:

  • Equip all staff to fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities around pupils' mental health
  • Meet your responsibility under Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) to train your staff in pupil mental health
